A trip showcasing the nomadic people of the Desert, The beautiful craters, The Magnificent Chalbi Desert and the Jade Sea that stands over 9350sq km.
Day 1: Nairobi – Isiolo Town
Drive time : 5hrs drive
Distance : 278kms
On arrival at JKI Airport, get your visa sorted with immigration and after that you will head to the baggage hall. A final clearance will be done by the Customs and do exit the building where our guide will be awaiting your arrival. After a brief introduction a transfer will be arranged to Hilton Garden Inn for a full buffet breakfast. Depart for Isiolo Town. Experience a leisurely and scenic drive as you pass fertile farmlands and the Majestic Mount Kenya. Arrive early afternoon for leisure at the hotel. Overnight at Bomen Hotel- Budget Hotel
Day 2: Isiolo – Marsabit
Drive time : 5hrs drive
Distance : 280kms
At 0700hrs a check out will be arranged and depart for Marsabit National Park. Experience a leisurely and scenic drive as you pass different altitude zones from greenery to arid areas. Arrive at the hotel for lunch and leisure. At 1500hrs a transfer will be arranged to Marsabit National Park that is located within the town area. Upon arrival enjoy a short game drive as you search for wildlife. A transfer will be arranged to the Crater Rim where you will experience a guided walk along the rim and later descend in as you walk towards Lake Paradise. Its beauty is captivating and lots of myths are linked to the lake. Ascend from the crater and continue with your drive to Marsabit Town. Day 3: Marsabit – North Horr
Drive time : 5hrs drive
Distance : 200kms
Early breakfast will be served followed by a check out. Enjoy a short drive out of the town and descend into the desert zone and within 30 minutes you will feel the climate change. Depart for North Horr Town. The drive take you through different tracks of either a Marram trail, Sandy trail or even a rocky trail. A brief stop will be made at Kalacha to the visit the Oasis where the local herdsmen bring their camel for water. You may get to hear the local herdsmen singing for their cattle songs so they can drink water and enjoy the natural spring water. A visit will be made to the Gabra Tribe. The Gabra (Gabbra or Gebra) people are Oromo-speaking camel pastoralist ethnic group occupying the arid Chalbi lands of Northern Kenya and the highlands of Southern Ethiopia. The name "Gabra" may have roots in the Oromo word gabaro, meaning "vassal" and possibly indicating an association within the Borana federation. The Gabra's ornamentation and physical culture is similar to many other Cushitic-speaking camel herders. Proceed with the journey to North Horr and arrive at the camp in time for lunch and leisure. At 1700hrs a transfer will be arranged to the Sand Dune where you can trek to the top and take pictures of the semi arid terrain. Return to the camp for leisure. Day 4: North Horr – Loiyangalani
Drive time : 3hrs drive
Distance : 90kms
Early breakfast will be served followed by a check out. At 0700hrs depart for Loiyangalani. Experience a leisurely drive as you pass through a rock terrain that portrays a clear vision of volcanic activity many million years ago. The drive comes to an end once you spot the mighty blue water of Lake Turkana that looks like the ocean. Arrive at the lodge for lunch and leisure. A visit will be arranged to the El Molo Tribe. The smallest tribe in Kenya that has over 5000 in population, they live by the lake side and their life dwells within water activities. The El Molo people fish for a living and they sell some of their fish in order to get other types of food. They tend to sell their fresh fish, and smoke the fish they will eat so that it will last a long time. They also have their own version of fish oil that they give all the children so that they can be healthy and not get sick. In the past the El Molo used to battle crocodiles from their tiny canoes and would eat crocodile meat. Arrive at the lodge early evening for leisure. Day 5: Loiyangalani
Breakfast will be served at 0700hrs. Experience a leisurely drive as you head to meet the Turkana People. Traditional accessories include a small wooden stool carved out of a mingle piece of wood (used either as a pillow or a stool), a wooden stick with a distinctive shape, and a wrist knife. The women wear a variety of beaded and metal adornments, much of it indicating to the trained eye events in the woman’s life. A half skirt of animal skins and a piece of block cloth are the only garments worn, although these days pieces of colourful cloth are not uncommon for use as baby slings. Tattooing is also common and usually has special meaning. Men are tattooed on the shoulders and upper arm each time they kill an enemy — the right shoulder for killing a man, the left for women. Return to the lodge for leisure. An afternoon visit will be arranged to the Desert Museum where you will learn more about the Desert people in terms of livelihoods, Traditions, Art and Beliefs. Day 6: Loiyangalani - Ngurunit
Drive time : 4hrs drive Distance : 180kms
Early breakfast will be served followed by a check out. Depart for Ngurunit at 0700hrs. Experience a leisurely and scenic drive as you pass through the Wind Power project and through outstanding scenery that melts the heart with awe. Arrive at the guest house for lunch and leisure. An afternoon camel safari will arranged as you follow the Ngurunit River and a visit will be arranged to a Rendille Village. The rendille people occupy the present day Marsabit County from Lake Turkana (Loyangalani) in the north to Merille River and sereolipi the Merille River in the south from Marsabit town in the east to Lontolio and Ngurnit in the west. The main Rendille towns include Kargi, Korr, Laisamis, Merille, Karare, Kamboi and Marsabit town which as urbanite Centre. The Rendille people of Kenya speak rendille language. Rendille language is more close to Somali language which make it easy for people from the two tribes to communicate in their respective languages without misinterpretation. The intermarriages between the Samburu (tribe in their south and west) and the Rendille have led to growth of a new Rendille people who can speak samburu. They are called Arielle Rendille. Most of the Arielle Rendilles lives along the great northern track. Return back to the camp early evening for leisure. Dinner and Overnight at Golbo Guest House – Low Budget Guest House (B/L/D)
Day 7: Ngurunit – Samburu
Drive time : 5hrs drive Distance : 220kms
Early breakfast will be served followed by a check out. Depart at 0700hrs for Samburu National Reserve. Experience a leisurely and scenic drive. Arrive at the lodge for lunch and leisure. Enjoy an afternoon game drive as you search for wildlife. Dinner and Overnight at Samburu Simba Lodge (B/L/D)
Day 8: Samburu
Early breakfast will be served.
Enjoy a half day game drive as you search for wildlife.
Return to the lodge for lunch and leisure.
A transfer will be arranged to a Samburu Village.
(The Samburu tribe are a Nilotic tribe that inhabits Kenya's northern plains. They are a Maa-speaking group, and are very similar to the Maasai tribe.
Like Kenya's other pastoralist tribes, the Samburu people rear large herds of cows, sheep, goats and camels, which they openly graze on their communal land. Samburu herdsmen and their animals stay in one grazing area for as long as there is adequate pasture and water, then move on to new pastures once the current pasture has been exhausted.
Return back to the lodge with a game drive en-route.

Day 9: Samburu - Nairobi – Departure
Drive time : 6.5hrs drive Distance : 350kms
Early breakfast will be served followed by a check out. Depart at 0900hrs for Nairobi. Experience a leisurely and scenic drive. On arrival a transfer will be arranged to JKI Airport to board your flight back home. (B)
